What is NAPFA?

Founded in 1983, the National Association of Personal Financial Advisors (NAPFA) is an organization through which Fee-Only financial advisors, such as CCP, can further enhance their professional skills, market their services, and become part of a collective, influential voice on matters that affect them and their clients. NAPFA has aligned itself in providing client advocate resources through financial education and focusing on elimination of conflict of interest and full disclosure in the profession. It also addresses above average continuing education requirements needed each year for its members.

NAPFA’s goal is to set the bar high and make these standards commonplace in the practice of financial planning. The quality of service provided by a NAPFA member, such as a Fee-Only financial advisory firm as CCP, can be seen through the Core Values of a NAPFA member.

  • COMPETENCY: Requiring the highest standards of proficiency in the industry.
  • COMPREHENSIVE: Practicing a holistic approach to financial planning.
  • COMPENSATION: Using a Fee-Only model that facilitates objective advice.
  • CLIENT-CENTERED: Committing to the fiduciary relationship that ensures the client’s interest is always paramount.
  • FULL DISCLOSURE: Providing an explanation of fees and potential conflicts of interest.

When you work with a Fee-Only firm that has NAPFA Registered Financial Advisors you can feel confident that you will receive services that are provided within the guidelines of NAPFA. NAPFA explains that the significance of the term “Registered Financial Advisor” indicates a financial practitioner who adheres to the industry’s most demanding practice requirements, including Fee-Only compensation, and meets NAPFA’s rigorous standards. NAPFA has pioneered a set of standards in regards to advisor education, training, and methods of practice that truly serves the public interest, emphasizing objectivity, comprehensive planning, and broad training and experience. NAPFA has created the financial planning industry’s clearest message about the level of responsibility and care that must be exercised on behalf of each client. These qualities can all be found in a NAPFA Registered Financial Advisor.
